The new deal for the drug maker will allow its current drugmaker, AstraZeneca, to begin paying out an upfront payment of $10 billion for the treatment of chronic heartburn. The deal would also give AstraZeneca the right to challenge the new drugmaker's patent on Nexium, its first-line treatment for the stomach ulcer.

The new deal is set to become final and will see the U. S. Food and Drug Administration approve the second Nexium drug.

The AstraZeneca acquisition of Teva Pharmaceuticals has been the largest in the nation, and has helped to drive sales. The company's patent has expired, but the company is retaining its existing patent until next year. Teva has not disclosed any details about the deal.

The AstraZeneca acquisition of Johnson & Johnson and Bristol-Myers Squibb, along with Teva, was the largest in the nation and was expected to be the biggest in the United States for the next 20 years.

AstraZeneca's patent for Nexium, or Nexium 24, expired in 2003. The patent has now expired and AstraZeneca is expected to file a new patent. Nexium is also the most-used medication for acid reflux, a common cause of ulcers and heartburn.

The new drugmaker, AstraZeneca, is in the process of filing a new patent for the new drug. The new company will then have to file an application for AstraZeneca's patent. The new company will have to take one of the other four drugs as well.

The $10 billion deal will see the AstraZeneca acquisition of Johnson & Johnson, which is based in India, begin paying out a share of the total $11 billion in cash from the purchase.

AstraZeneca shares rose nearly 5 percent in the biggest market in the world to close at $5.65 in early trading on the New York Stock Exchange. The stock has closed more than 3 percent at $6.30 on the New York Stock Exchange.

Daily Beaston Thursday night reported that the company will start paying $2.5 billion upfront for the drug, but will pay $3.3 billion later this year. The company is also expected to pay $2.3 billion to the government for its response to the drugmaker's patent challenge in the US.

AstraZeneca CEO Ian Read toldThe New York Timesthat the deal is "good news for AstraZeneca." He said the deal was "very close to a lot of good news," but added: "We think that by having a new company that has a long history of success, we'll see a much larger number of people moving forward."

AstraZeneca shares fell 1 percent after the company launched a new marketing campaign for the treatment of chronic heartburn. Shares fell nearly 5 percent to $5.10 on the New York Stock Exchange.

The new marketing campaign will be launched on Thursday night, but is expected to be generic.

The AstraZeneca deal was announced during a hearing in New York City on Wednesday. The U. Justice Department was ordered to unseal AstraZeneca's patent for Nexium, which was expected to be filed in April. The drugmaker will pay $10 billion to settle lawsuits in the United States and Europe over the safety of Nexium, which is sold by AstraZeneca as a heartburn-reducing drug.

The lawsuit alleges that AstraZeneca had a patent that expired in 2003. The company also claims that AstraZeneca did not know of the expiration of the patent, which led to the patent expiry.

The lawsuit alleges that AstraZeneca did not file a new patent on Nexium in 2003 because it was known by other drugs, and that it was not aware of the expiration.

AstraZeneca agreed to pay $10 billion upfront and would pay $10 billion later this year, if the deal goes through with.

What is Reflux?

Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet (“foodpipe”) which may become inflamed and painful. This may cause you symptoms such as a painful sensation in the chest rising up to your throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).

Do I get instant relief from taking a Nexium tablet?

Nexium Control is not meant to bring immediate relief. You may need to take the tablets for 2-3 days in a row before you feel better. You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 14 days.

Directions for Use

How much to take• The recommended dose is one tablet a day. • Do not take more than this recommended dose of one tablet (20 mg) a day, even if you don’t feel an improvement immediately. • You may need to take the tablets for 2 or 3 days in a row before your reflux symptoms (for example, heartburn and acid regurgitation) get better. • The treatment length is up to 14 days. • When your reflux symptoms have completely gone you should stop taking this medicine. • If your reflux symptoms get worse or do not improve after taking this medicine for 14 days in a row, you should consult a doctor. If you have persistent or longstanding, frequently recurring symptoms even after treatment with this medicine, you should contact your doctor. Taking this medicine • You can take your tablet at any time of the day either with food or on an empty stomach. • Swallow your tablet whole with half a glass of water. Do not chew or crush the tablet. This is because the tablet contains coated pellets, which stop the medicine from being broken down by the acid in your stomach. It is important not to damage the pellets.

Alternative method of taking this medicine• Put the tablet in a glass of still (non-fizzy) water. Do not use any other liquids. • Stir until the tablet breaks up (the mixture will not be clear) then drink the mixture straight away or within 30 minutes. Always stir the mixture just before drinking it. • To make sure that you have drunk all of the medicine, rinse the glass very well with half a glass of water and drink it. The solid pieces contain the medicine – do not chew or crush them

Please read the patient information leaflet above to get more information as to side effects, precautions of use etc.
